UNC Health Blue Ridge cuts ribbon on Brasfield & Gorrie-built patient tower
August 22, 2024
UNC Health Blue Ridge recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Morganton, North Carolina, for its new six-story patient tower which features a new Emergency Department and Intensive Care floor. The 220,560-square-foot addition means the Emergency Department is triple the size of the old one, and the ICU nearly doubles the number of rooms available for critically ill patients, from 16 to 30 beds.
The general contractor for the building is Brasfield & Gorrie. “At Brasfield & Gorrie, we talk a lot about building strong communities because we’re passionate about serving the people in the places we call home. We’re honored that UNC Health Blue Ridge has turned to us as partners in caring for the community’s health,” said Regional Vice President and Division Manager Michael Byrd. The general contractor also recently built the UNC Health Blue Ridge Valdese Cancer Center addition. “We hope to continue to build on our relationship with UNC Health Blue Ridge.”
