The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta’s Center of Hope reaches construction milestone

The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta’s Center of Hope recently reached its full height in downtown Atlanta. Brasfield & Gorrie, the project’s general contractor, has completed the structural work for the five-story addition, which doubles the current facility’s size. With the structure complete, construction crews will now focus on the interior and the building’s exterior finishes.

“At Brasfield & Gorrie, we’re passionate about building strong communities, and projects like this allow us to directly affect the city we call home.”
Senior Superintendent Jim Bradley

Senior Project Manager Cullen McGeady added, “We have a longstanding relationship with The Salvation Army, both here in Atlanta and across our footprint, and we’re grateful for the hard work our crews have put in to bring the Center of Hope to this point.”

By adding 46,335 sq ft to the existing facility, The Salvation Army will be able to house more than 100 additional men, women and veterans. The Center of Hope will also include an education and workforce development center, where residents and members of the community can take classes in basic literacy and GED, computer skills, financial literacy and certification training to improve their employability and earning potential.

“We are so excited for this expansion of the services we can provide to our metro Atlanta neighbors. We have been serving the unhoused community for over 50 years with compassionate shelter and case management. When the new Center of Hope is open, we will be able to do so much more to change the lives of individuals and families for generations.”
Major Thomas McWilliams, Metro Atlanta Area Commander for The Salvation Army

The project is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2025.
