Lake Martin Dam Arch Replacement

Lake Martin was the largest manmade reservoir in the world when it was created in 1926—when means the Lake Martin Dam needs consistent maintenance. Brasfield & Gorrie was commissioned to demolish and replace 20 bays of concrete arches on the spillway, which included three arches per bay for a total of 60. The dam’s tainter gates were operated solely by electric gantry crane, which required close coordination during construction to ensure the gantry had sufficient power and access during flood events.
