Brasfield & Gorrie reaches construction milestone on Southern Research project

Brasfield & Gorrie recently celebrated the topping out of Southern Research’s new research laboratory building. The milestone commemorates the building reaching its full height. From this point on, the majority of construction will focus on the structure’s interior.

Southern Research’s biotech center will anchor the development of 200,000 sq ft of new or renovated wet lab space for life sciences. Brasfield & Gorrie is also renovating more than 40,000 sq ft of Southern Research’s existing biotech campus.

Brasfield & Gorrie has completed more than $2 billion in science and technology projects, accounting for more than 6 million sq ft of life sciences, medical laboratory and research institution space. The general contractor is working with architects Williams Blackstock and HOK on the Southern Research project, which is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2025.
