Brasfield & Gorrie Chief Information Officer Honored by Auburn University

In a virtual ceremony held earlier this month, Brasfield & Gorrie Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Chris Kramer was honored by Auburn University’s Samuel Ginn College of Engineering Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Kramer received the department’s Outstanding Alumni Award for 2021. The college’s alumni awards recognize individuals for their outstanding personal qualities, knowledge and significant contributions to their fields.
Kramer graduated from Auburn with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering in 1994 and joined Brasfield & Gorrie in 1998. He is a registered Professional Engineer and LEED AP. Prior to becoming CIO, he gained 25 years of experience leading commercial, industrial and institutional projects. Kramer served in a leadership role on many prominent Auburn University projects, including the Student Center; the Wilford and Kate Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital; the Center for Advanced Science, Innovation and Commerce; the MRI Research Center; and the M. Miller Gorrie Building Science Center. In addition, he held leadership roles in several projects important to Birmingham’s recent revitalization, including the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth Airport Modernization, the Birmingham Crossplex, Uptown Entertainment District, Railroad Park and Regions Field.
As CIO, Kramer has been responsible for several company-wide strategic planning, improvement and cultural change initiatives. He oversees Brasfield & Gorrie’s Virtual Design + Construction, Innovation, Lean, Prefabrication and IT departments. He is also actively involved in numerous church, civic, community and professional organizations, and has participated in the Alabama Leadership Initiative and Leadership Birmingham. Chris and his wife, Mary, reside in Vestavia Hills with their two daughters: Cate, a high school junior, and Anna, who is currently studying industrial engineering at Auburn.
