Brasfield & Gorrie recently celebrated the topping out of the Wiregrass Innovation Center. The event honored a significant milestone in the development of this cutting-edge research facility for the City of Dothan: reaching its full height. The event pays tribute to the construction team’s work to meet that landmark.

The Wiregrass Innovation Center will be a state-of-the-art research and innovation hub that makes Dothan an attractive destination for entrepreneurial and research talent. The advancements made here will benefit communities well beyond the city.

“As the Wiregrass Innovation Center tops out, we celebrate the hard work that brought us here,” said Bill Steed, a vice president at division manager of Brasfield & Gorrie. “The construction team’s work is an important step in building a new scientific frontier for the region.”

Several additional transformative projects are underway and upcoming across Dothan. Brasfield & Gorrie is the general contractor for enhancements to Dothan’s historic opera house, the development of Porter Park and its events plaza, and the upcoming City Hall project, which is set to begin in the second quarter of the year.

Dothan’s mayor, Mark Saliba, said, “We are excited about all of the progress in downtown Dothan. We are eager to see several of these projects come to completion and others start to come out of the ground. We’re really proud of the progress being made for our citizens.”

HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology—a global leader in biotech and research—will be the facility’s primary tenant. Projects like the Wiregrass Innovation Center are growing the potential of science and technology in the region.

Brasfield & Gorrie’s track record with HudsonAlpha includes three projects in Huntsville: the Discovery Life Sciences building, the Institute’s greenhouse and headhouse, and the Paul Propst Center for Precision Medicine.
